Adopt-A-Granny Launch 8 September
Celebrating 5 years in Edgemead, Bothasig and Richwood, Locals Helping Locals has grown from strength to strength.
5 years ago Johanna Kotze started off with one old lady whom she noticed could not afford basic groceries, today, she looks after 49 SASSA pensioners, that she lovingly calls Seenagers.
Weekly Johanna delivers a full home-cooked meal, plus just before SASSA payday (that horrible last week), they each receive an emergency hamper filled with bare necessities. Not only that, when they are not feeling well or depressed, Johanna sends them a Sunshine Hamper to wish them well.
Many of her Seenagers do not have close family. Friends are few and most of them also struggle with challenges that comes with ageing. Most are very lonely.
As Locals Helping Locals is celebrating their 5th birthday, they are launching Adopt-A-Granny Project.
Adopt-a-Granny Project is a way for Locals Helping Locals effort to improve the well-being of their Seenagers specifically where some of them are very lonely and isolated.
