A Father's Day Gift
From Ric's Pen
Another Fathers Day coming up. Whew, how time flies! Last year it was socks, the year before a tie. OK enough I thinks.
What am I to do to express my love for this superhero in my life?
Many of us have had these thoughts. Answering this question has never been an easy thing to see. Probably because we have always looked into the physical world for the answer.
OK, so it’s easy, me thinks. I will ask him what I can get him. So I do just that.
He says with a gentleness in his eyes, you don’t have to get me anything, cause I already have everything.
Oh, not so easy. What gift do I give to my father as a thanks for being my father. Many hundreds of years and many fathers have passed, for me to realize, that his answer was in his eyes, and not in the words he used. He wants me to live that gentleness I saw in those loving eyes that day.
Those eyes that said
“I would love you to live your life to it’s fullest and in the most grateful way.
When you stumble I will support you.
When you cry I’ll comfort you.
In hard times I’ll carry you through and always remember, I’ll always be there”
So now my Fathers Day gift is a handkerchief and the way I live the gift my father gave me Life
Thank you Papa, my Papa, Thank you
