Marianna Weij is no stranger to the Bothasig Holistic Fayre. This bead-maker and healing facilitator shares her journey with us, talks colours, her favourite books and gives us insights into the Solar Aura Healing treatment that she offers. In this fun and informative interview we discover the path to healing can be exciting, fulfilling and, indeed, COLOURFUL!!!
Where do you conduct your practice from?
The Bothasig Holistic Fayre, Mystic Cove, Observatory Holistic Fair and then also private consultations (call outs and at my home)
How did you discover your healing abilities?
I have always been drawn towards helping others. I realised that playing "Mother Theresa" would be my downfall because taking on other's problems affects my body. ±5 years ago I, unknowingly, stepped onto my healing path (healing myself and others) through beading. The impact of working with colour was amazing. The one lead to another and my colour therapy jewellery experienced birth. At that point my soul wanted more was yearning for truth and understanding.
Did you study beading? How does your beading form a part of your healing practice?
My mom introduced me to beading after a lot of resistance! Everyone was beading and I did not want to get onto the "bead wagon". The first bracelet took me ages to make. The second went a bit better and then I could not stop. When the family suggested that I should bead because "I need it" I realised that colour must have something to do with it. I started reading more about the psychology of colour and then there was no stopping me. So, to answer your question, no, I did not study beading. I just followed my natural feeling towards colour and allowing that designs downloaded into my awareness. Beading became very real and alive to me when my sinus and hay fever acted up. I realised that I was focusing on turquoise creations, a calming colour that assists in the relief of these dis-eases.
What is price range of your jewellery?
The "hippie memory bracelets" (memory wire, seed beads, wooden beads) are the entry level at R20 each or R50 for 3. The crystal power bracelets are R40 each or R100 for 3. When I do a healing reading with the Solar Aura Cards and a specific colour is indicated for healing the bracelets are a very "physical" way of bringing the healing energy of colour into our lives. Wearing the bracelets with the intent of the vibration allows the body to start working at the blockage and healing can start taking place.
Would you consider yourself as a "colour therapist"?
Yes and no. I don't want to label myself as one or the other. I use colour in facilitating change, healing and growth in others when doing the Solar Aura Healing and massage and in my jewellery. I surrender to the links in the body, interpret and then relay to the client to bring awareness. So if a client needs colour I will be a colour therapist but if the client needs touch I am using massage! My logo is - HEALING IS FUN WITH COLOUR - with a focus on playfulness. We have enough seriousness in and around us. if we can trigger that playfulness within through e.g my jewellery, it's already a start on the road to awareness and healing.
What is your favourite colour?
PINK!!! I never loved wearing pink, I thought it too girly for me. Thanks to my beading I started "trusting" and "allowing" pink to talk to me and I learned it was all about SELF-LOVE, SELF-WORTH, SELF-ACCEPTANCE and FORGIVENESS for not allowing certain things and love into my life. So yes, now I have pink everywhere and sleeping very "innocently" in my niece's pink Barbie bed at the moment.
How did you choose which healing modalities to study and practice?
I had a few choices of which modality would catch my interest, then I met Berto and Tamar and Solar Aura Healing became the obvious choice. It is playful, informal and easy and allows the body to engage in process of peeling away layers and releasing and healing "stuck" issues. I studied Solar Aura Healing, Solar Aura E-motional Rebirth, Solar Aura Head / Shoulder & Back Massage, Third Eye and Foundation Healing courses with them.
Solar Aura Healing? Can you explain it please?
The Solar Aura Head / shoulder and back massage has developed into an amazing intuitive therapeutic session including release (detox as my sister calls it) and informal counselling (reading the body's responses and links between certain energy points and conveying to client opens up awareness of subconscious issues).

I have noticed that you use sacred geometry discs in your healing sessions, what is the history of these discs?
The system was developed by Berto Voigt who was shown through his own life, healings and channelings how to design the sacred geometry disks with certain vibrations. These disks carry a certain message within the design / colour. The body recognises the vibration and downloads these messages etc into the energetic field. Any imbalances are rectified and the body is shown how to heal itself. The disks are just as affective with or without a facilitator. The energy ("power") is enhanced with Reiki and intuitive interpretation by a therapist.
What advice would you give to a budding healer?
REMEMBER - you are NOT the healer ... only the facilitator. Working on yourself (acknowledging the dark side within your self) allows you to become a "pure" vessel for God's loving healing energy. Stay humble. When you become arrogant because of "your" successes the negative EGO steps in and can pollute the outcome of the session.
Do you have any favourite books/authors?
"Women Who Run With Wolves" by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. The book taught me to see the symbolism and synchronicity in our lives. "The Voice of Knowledge" by Don Miguel Ruiz - the entire book was "WOW" but the section on heaven and hell was "super super WOW". In that section he writes that we create and experience heaven or hell in our daily living. It's not a space, feeling or reward for after death, on the contrary, after death there's NO separation. Paulo Coelho's books - I loved all if them. I own all his books, expect for two….

I have experienced powerful healing sessions with you, do you do self-healing and what has your experience been?
Oh, yes...I definitely do self-healing (my cats normally scan when the healing is finished and re-arrange the disks if I have used them as a sign that the healing is done). It is always amazing to see what the cause/lesson is for a discomfort in the body. I have suffered from severe cystitis (bladder infection) where kidney stones were dislodged. A combination of Himalayan Crystal Salt in water and choosing disks relevant to the cause of the infection has "healed" me within an hour. Without the use of an antibiotic or normal Western medicine. I would wake up at weird hours of the night, then I started to realise which meridian works at which hour and connecting the dots between the meaning of all the relevant signals helped to normalise my sleeping pattern.
What is the soul satisfaction that your gifts and abilities give you and what has the impact been on your own healing path in your life?
Interesting question. When people ask me how a day at a fayre was my answer would be something like: How can one put a money value to the impact we as healers (or rather facilitators) have on our "clients". It has humbled me to be trusted with the deepest physical, emotional, mental and even psychological processes of the individual's body. We "mirror" certain messages, symbols, problems in each other. So through facilitating a healing session I talk to myself and become aware of certain aspects of my own life. The most recent theme of awareness has been one of clarity and intent - very appropriate in everyone's life. My own healing path has therefore helped me to LIVE my words, surrender and to not resist change, to find and see the humour in life as well as the amazing beauty around us. One cannot grow unless we have the guts to acknowledge the "dark" side - that which we normally prefer to ignore. The healing process has helped me to see and become aware of the immediate impact of our lifestyle on our bodies. It's my choice to take care of my body temple.
What would you say, in your experiences with clients, are the main issues we are facing in this age?
People prostituting themselves in order to be accepted and loved. They give away their power and allow others to become the puppet master of their reality. It seems easier to not take responsibility and much easier to put the blame on others if things are not working out the way you wanted. It's difficult for people to leave the past in the past. Much nicer to play victim, it gives them something to talk about - "my life is so bad..."
In closing, if your friends had to describe you in 10 words or less, what would they say?
They would most probably say I am honest, loyal, supportive, fun, caring, kindhearted, soft and touchable!!!
