Deciding to have a Shiatsu treatment is a lifestyle choice much like managing your stress levels, your exercise programme and your diet.
But what is Shiatsu?
In Shiatsu, or acupressure or finger pressure as it is also called, the therapist applies pressure to various points on the body with the intention of increasing the flow of Qi, encouraging the removal of any blockages that may have developed due to physical or emotion stress. Qi, blood and oxygen are encouraged to flow to these areas and this free movement is closely related to your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being

What then is ‘Qi’?
Qi is your personal life force that courses through your body, together with your blood, lymph and oxygen. It should flow freely, without snags, to maintain optimal health

The Qi Balance Studio is located in a tranquil home environment in Pinelands and aims to restore balance so that the body can heal or defend itself efficiently. Shiastu improves health generally by relieving stress, calming the nervous system and stimulating the circulatory and immune systems. It is particularly effective for stress-related tension and illnesses, insomnia, back pain, headaches, digestive ailments and for a quicker recovery from injuries. Treatments before and after intense physical activity greatly improve performance and reduce recovery time. A Shiatsu treatment leaves you feeling relaxed, with a keen sense of well-being.
Shiatsu is non-invasive, as the client remains fully clothed (loose, comfortable clothing are ideal) and, as the body is covered with a light cloth, skin-on-skin contact is minimal
